Meet your mentee, Alexa.
Alexa describes herself as honest, kind, and caring. She grew up in the Bronx and speaks Spanish at home. Math is her favorite subject because it comes easily to her, and she enjoys the confidence she feels when she finishes work early and connects with staff she’s close to. She enjoys volleyball in gym class and previously tried out student government, serving as president before realizing it wasn’t the right fit for her. Outside of school, Alexa likes watching movies—especially horror—doing her hair on Saturdays, participating in Minds Matter, and talking with her friends about their futures. She is interested in real estate and open to exploring other careers as she learns more about herself. She joined GCSA because she wants support figuring out her goals, hopes to grow through new experiences, and values having a mentor she can trust and speak openly with.
There are several natural connections between you and Alexa. You both enjoy meaningful conversation, building relationships, and thinking intentionally about the qualities you want to bring into your lives. Her interest in planning, exploring new paths, and imagining her future aligns with your reflective, forward-thinking approach. Alexa appreciates mentors who are calm, patient, and supportive—qualities reflected in your mentoring style, your problem-solving mindset, and your commitment to guiding young people as they grow. She will benefit from your steady presence and your ability to help her clarify her goals while staying encouraged and grounded.
