Meet your mentee, Eddison.
Eddison describes himself as dedicated, hardworking, and calm. He grew up in Manhattan and speaks Spanish at home. Basketball is a major part of his life—he practices daily, feels responsible for lifting up the people around him, and hopes to make the school team this year. His favorite class is English because he enjoys the freedom to write and express himself, and he also likes building and fixing things, which connects to his interest in possibly working with computers in the future. He loves watching anime, YouTube, and the Thunder, and he dreams big—he wants to go to college, keep improving as a player, and maybe play professionally one day. He joined GCSA to push himself out of his comfort zone, build new connections, and find someone he can talk to about his goals, especially when he feels indecisive or unsure.
There are many natural connections between you and Eddison. You both enjoy sports, working out, and following stories through reading, movies, or pop culture. Eddison’s calm nature, ability to handle stress, and desire to build relationships align well with your steady communication style, flexibility, and experience collaborating across teams. His dreamer mindset and interest in solving problems also connect with your background leading complex projects and thinking critically. Most importantly, Eddison wants a mentor who can guide him through decisions, support his growth, and help him shape his future—exactly the kind of mentorship you’ve offered in your past work with youth.
