Meet your mentee, Emily.

Emily describes herself as nice, friendly, and kind. She grew up in Queens and enjoys watching Nickelodeon, My Little Pony, and spending time at home with her family—especially her younger sister. Her favorite subjects are math and social studies; she’s strong in Algebra II and loves learning history. Emily is highly involved in school life: she’s part of Student Government, helps organize and decorate events, and is joining NHS after being invited. She enjoys building relationships, communicating openly, and sticking to a plan, and she has consistently earned some of the highest grades in her cohort. In her free time, she loves playing Roblox or Minecraft with her sister, going to amusement parks in the summer, and building or creating things with her hands. She joined GCSA to meet new people, be part of a positive community, and get support as she plans for college.

There are many natural connections between you and Emily. You are both talkative, creative, and energized by meeting new people and understanding how they see the world. Her interest in architecture aligns directly with your background studying and working in the field, and she will benefit from your experience navigating design, collaboration, and building projects from concept to construction. Emily’s commitment to responsibility, planning, and high academic performance also matches your detail-oriented, thoughtful approach. Most importantly, she responds well to warmth, openness, and encouragement—qualities reflected in your mentoring style and your commitment to showing up authentically for young people.
