Meet your mentee, Emmanuel
Emmanuel describes himself as calm, funny, and talkative once he gets comfortable. He grew up in Queens and loves soccer, especially watching Real Madrid and playing at the park with friends. He was part of a soccer club for a year and a half and still enjoys being active and competing. His favorite subject is math because it feels straightforward and fun, and he appreciates that the class is more relaxed and doesn’t give homework. He feels proud of how much he improved once he entered high school, sharing that he “locked in” academically compared to middle school. Outside of class, he likes hanging out with friends, going to the movies, and being around people he can trust and laugh with.
Emmanuel isn’t sure what career he wants yet, but he knows he wants a stable life where he feels comfortable and financially secure. He sees himself as someone who handles stress well, likes to debate, doesn’t get upset easily, and prefers sticking to a plan. He joined GCSA because the financial support for college is meaningful to him, and he’s excited about the mentorship, the trips, and having something positive to do after school. He’s looking forward to meeting someone open-minded, trustworthy, and easy to talk to as he explores his path.
