Meet your mentee, Jennie.
Jennie describes herself as kind, shy, and friendly, and she brings a warm, creative spirit to everything she does.
She grew up in Brooklyn and enjoys watching shows like Cobra Kai and Devil May Cry, especially while crocheting or working on crafts. Her favorite class is Textile & Fashion because she loves drawing, designing clothes, and expressing herself through what she wears. She also likes ELA, especially reading, and enjoys mystery, romance, and fantasy books.
Outside of school, Jennie spends much of her time drawing, doing any kind of craft, and up-cycling her clothes. Over the summer, she even transformed old pieces into new designs—like turning a skirt into a tube top—and she’s getting a sewing machine for Christmas. Jennie played on the tennis team this year, her first-ever sport, and although the season was tough, she worked hard and improved. She hopes to pursue a career in the fashion or design industry and is curious about roles like fashion designer or art director.
There are many natural connections between you and Jennie. She is deeply creative and loves expressing herself through design, which aligns closely with your passion for fashion, creativity, and exploring new ideas. She enjoys learning from new experiences and trying different projects, just as you’ve learned from traveling and working across many environments.
Jennie is curious about college and her future, and your experience mentoring young people, helping them build confidence, and supporting their goals will be especially meaningful. She’s excited to have your guidance as she explores fashion, school, and her long-term dreams.
