Meet your mentee, Leilani.

Leilani describes herself as kind, hardworking, and creative. She enjoys watching YouTube, listening to music, and reading — especially Dork Diaries. English is her favorite subject because she’s confident in her writing, and she loves creating stories and exploring artistic expression. She also enjoys art class and hands-on building activities during crew, where she gets to be creative in different ways. Outside of school, Leilani likes going to the park for fresh air, shopping with her grandfather, and visiting museums. She recently traveled to Florida and loved exploring the parks at Universal Studios. She hopes to become an artist and is especially interested in graphic and digital art, with a dream of attending Parsons after learning more about it through a video.

Leilani is talkative, thoughtful, artistic, and energetic, and she’s comfortable expressing her emotions and ideas. She dreams big, enjoys debating, and loves anything that allows her to create or build with her hands. She previously committed to band in middle school, performing at Hershey Park, and hopes to learn instruments like guitar or violin in the future. She joined GCSA because she wants support as she grows through high school, is looking for someone she can talk to openly, and wants an advantage as she works toward her long-term goals.
