Meet your mentee, Luciana.
Luciana describes herself as creative, a good listener, and respectful, and she brings a thoughtful, artistic presence to everything she does. She grew up in Colombia before moving to the United States, which was a big transition, but she is proud of the commitment she made and is happy to be building her life here with her dad. She speaks Spanish at home and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
In school, she likes Global History because she enjoys listening and learning about everything happening in the world. Outside of class, she loves drawing and painting, hanging out with friends, and watching shows like Love Island. She enjoys romance and fantasy books—especially the Harry Potter series—and she has experience in both volleyball and art from middle school. Luciana isn’t sure about her future career yet, but she’s interested in the arts, fashion, and possibly marketing, and she’s excited to try new things to see what she might enjoy.
There are many natural connections between you and Luciana. You both enjoy drawing, painting, fashion, and creative expression, and you share an interest in fun, engaging TV shows. Luciana can be shy at first but opens up once she gets to know someone, and your empathetic, student-centered approach will help her feel supported. She wants guidance as she explores new experiences and thinks about college and potential careers, and your experience helping students clarify their goals will be incredibly meaningful.
She’s excited to learn from you as she gains confidence in her next steps.
