Meet your mentee, Mason.

Mason describes himself as respectful, honest, and passionate. He grew up in Manhattan and loves math because he has enjoyed working with numbers since he was young. He also likes Chemistry and Information Technology, especially since IT is the career path he hopes to pursue. He’s been involved in Esports, Gamer Haven, and an internship where he helped create an app and website for his school—projects that matched his interest in building things and working with his hands. For fun, Mason likes hanging out with friends, trying different Spanish foods, and recently started going to the gym to stay active and get out of his room more. He sees himself as someone who builds relationships easily, pays attention to detail, and sometimes worries about making mistakes. He joined GCSA because he wants support planning his future, using new opportunities, and building a strong relationship with a mentor he can rely on.

There are many natural connections between you and Mason. You both enjoy working out, exploring new places, and following sports like football and baseball. Mason’s interest in IT, building things, and solving problems aligns closely with your background in applied math, puzzle-like problem-solving, and your experience programming and teaching young adults. His detail-oriented nature also mirrors your own strengths in handling stress and staying calm under pressure. Most importantly, Mason hopes for a mentor who can guide him toward new opportunities and help him prepare for his future—support you are well-equipped to give through your patience, experience, and commitment to giving back.
