Meet your mentee, Samai.

Samai describes herself as funny, nice, and humble, and she brings a warm, social energy to every space she’s in. She’s talkative, expressive, and comfortable sharing her emotions, which helps her build strong relationships with friends and classmates. Outside of school, she loves going to the movies, walking around the city with friends, and shopping. She’s really into crime and mystery shows like Law & Order and The First 48, and she’s currently watching My Life with the Walter Boys. In school, she enjoys gym—especially volleyball—along with algebra, which she finds easier this year than geometry. Her long-term goal is to pursue cosmetology, something she’s felt connected to since her grandmother used to do her hair and she began doing hair for others herself. She joined GCSA because she’s serious about going to college, wants access to scholarships, and is looking for guidance as she gets older and starts planning her future.

There are several natural connections between you and Samai. You both value close relationships, emotional openness, and creating supportive, encouraging environments. She’s talkative, social, and motivated by connection—qualities that match your own caring, empathetic approach and your experience working with youth. Her interest in beauty, creativity, and expressing herself aligns with your background in marketing, event work, and building confidence through leadership roles. She’ll benefit from your detail-oriented, future-focused guidance, and she’ll appreciate your supportive, down-to-earth energy as she navigates high school, explores cosmetology, and works toward her college goals.
