Perry Wilson joins GCSA’s Board of Directors, building on his experience as a mentor and his commitment to expanding opportunity for GCSA students.

The Governor’s Committee on Scholastic Achievement (GCSA) is pleased to welcome Perry Wilson, founder and owner of Northeastern Power and NEP Holdings, to its Board of Directors. His appointment marks a new chapter in a relationship with GCSA that began through mentorship.

Perry first became involved with GCSA as a mentor and has since deepened his engagement with the organization. This summer, he shared his experience as an entrepreneur with students during GCSA’s inaugural Summer Career Readiness Academy and recently joined students and families at the organization’s fourth annual summer picnic.

These experiences have given Perry an opportunity to connect with GCSA through the young people at the center of its work.

“GCSA’s commitment to helping young people recognize their potential and build pathways to meaningful careers strongly resonates with me,” said Wilson. “Through mentoring students, participating in the Summer Career Readiness Academy, and spending time with the GCSA community, I have seen firsthand the confidence, curiosity, and ambition these students bring.”

He brings that understanding to the Board alongside his experience as an entrepreneur who has spent his career building and leading a business.

As founder and owner of Northeastern Power and NEP Holdings, Perry leads a privately held energy business providing retail energy, wholesale power, and energy management solutions across North America. His work focuses on helping organizations pursue cleaner energy solutions while balancing affordability, reliability, and environmental responsibility, with the goal of creating lasting value for businesses and the communities they serve.

His experience navigating growth, managing risk, and building lasting relationships offers a valuable perspective for GCSA.

“Perry brings an important combination of entrepreneurial experience and firsthand knowledge of GCSA,” said Adele Edmonds, interim chair and secretary of GCSA’s Board of Directors. “He has taken the time to know our students and our work as a mentor, and he brings the perspective of someone who understands how to grow an organization thoughtfully. That combination will be a real asset to the Board as we steward GCSA’s long-term direction.”

Perry’s appointment comes as GCSA prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2027, a milestone that invites reflection on the organization’s legacy and its continued commitment to creating opportunities for New York City students.

Dr. Milly Seraus-Roache, GCSA’s executive director, welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with Perry in advancing the organization’s mission. “I look forward to drawing on Perry’s leadership experience and working together as strategic thought partners to strengthen GCSA and support our students,” she said.

For Perry, his new role is ultimately about expanding what GCSA can make possible for young people.

“As a board member, I’m excited to contribute my business experience, relationships, and energy to help expand opportunities for students and strengthen GCSA’s long-term impact,” Wilson said.

GCSA is proud to welcome Perry to its Board of Directors and looks forward to building on his contributions as mentor in this new leadership role.
